Well, we survived our first field trip today! We went to an amazing nearby park to hike and learn about the Ohlone people. There were a few snafus along the way… a forgotten permission slip, last minute chaperone dropout due to sick child… but otherwise, the trip went over well. I was surprised to realize how little exposure many of my students have had to nature… many of them didn’t recognize a helicopter seed! We definitely need to incorporate more science and nature into the classroom!
